The Pays D’oc continues to produce such good value wines. This Malbec has all the hallmark dark red and black fruit flavours you would expect, but it is so well balanced its drinkable on its own, or with rich red meat dishes - Coquille der Terre Carignan, France

Again, from the heart of Burgundy, Jaffelin Pinot Noir has classic red fruit flavour with gentle spicy notes and a slight savoury tinge. A wonderful combination with mushroom dishes and duck - Sorbaiano Pian del Conte, Italy
This Sangiovese based blend has rich black fruit aromas, with an elegant mouthfeel. The tannins are delicate and the finish long. It is a very definitive Tuscan wine that will work fantastically with tomato based dishes and rustic red meat and game - Chateau Mangot 2016 Grand Cru St Emilion, France

A delightful Provence rose this is bone dry, with subtle red fruit flavour and a floral tinge that really invites another glass

A wonderful botrytis Semillon with nectarine and peach and dried mango aromas delicately balanced with hints of hazelnut and honey spice from French oak - Elysium Black Muscat, USA (Half Bottle)
Greek for heaven, Elysium is black in colour but with a floral character full of velvety fruit flavour. A perfect match for chocolate puddings
Local Wines
Brightwell Vineyard adjoins the south side of the River Thames, 1 mile north of the historic town of Wallingford and 8 miles south of the city of Oxford. The flinty chalk greensand and gravel of the Thames Valley provides ideal grapevine soil, while the region is sheltered by the surrounding hills of the Chilterns, North Downs and Cotswolds making it one of the warmest and driest areas of the UK in summer. The vineyard produces white, rosé, red and sparkling wines which frequently win medals in Regional, National and International competitions
